I know for myself, I have a dedicated space, a flash yoga mat, all the props, candles, music… everything I need for the perfect at-home yoga practice. And yet… it’s never been that successful.

Don’t get me wrong—I do practice yoga at home. But it’s usually 20 minutes or so, and I’m often distracted: making to-do lists in my mind, checking my phone (sigh…), patting the dog, and the list could go on.

When I practice in a studio, as much as my mind still wants to make lists and plan out the rest of my day, I have to give in to the fact that I’m here—and I have this dedicated time to connect with ME. A yoga studio has this beautiful way of helping us drop in and tune the rest of our busy lives out, giving that much-needed space and peace—even if at times all it feels like is chaos.

There are a million excuses for why you shouldn’t carve out the time in your day to head to your local studio. But I guess the real question is: at what expense?
